Whale Store XOXO EP3 – Double Drama & Lesbian Power Moves

Updated: Aug 9

Okay, Whale Store XOXO—you have officially entered your main character era. Episode 3 came at us with not one but two sapphic storylines we’re now deeply (and emotionally) invested in. If you’re not watching this Thai GL drama, grab your favorite snack and start catching up. Because this week? Feelings were felt, kisses were given, and hearts—ours included—were confused.

Let’s break it down scene by scene, sass by sass.

Wan and Maewnam pause inches apart, locking eyes in a charged moment of tension before quickly pulling away—an almost-kiss scene from Whale Store XOXO Episode 3.

Maewnam: Bold, Blunt & Beautiful

We continue to adore Maewnam. This woman is fearless, knows what she wants, emotionally intelligent, and doesn’t waste time playing games. She tells her friends she likes the new grocery store owner, takes their advice and tries a few flirty “tricks” to see if Wan might be interested too, and by the end—spoiler alert—she’s even brave enough to confess her feelings to Wan (even if Wan’s fast asleep when she says it). That kind of courage? We love to see it.

Speaking of flirty tricks—Chomphu and Tonnam are the ones who gave Maewnam that advice in the first place, after she openly admitted that she’s into the grocery store owner. That cute scene with the three of them hanging out at Maewnam’s place? Pure sapphic delight. It’s not often we get casual, wholesome scenes of queer women bonding beyond the workplace—and it made us appreciate how grounded the friendships in this show are. This wasn’t just fluff—it added texture to each of the women’s characters.

Also? Give us more of this trio. Immediately.

Chomphu & Tonnam: Relatable to the Core

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been Chomphu, anxiously waiting at a coffee shop to start a sweet date with your partner—only for her to be late because she can’t get out of the house… since her family doesn’t know she’s in a queer relationship. They’ve been together for three years, so we deeply understand why Chomphu is frustrated. At that point, you just want to live your life openly with the person you love—we get it!

Our girl is clearly hurting, and it stings. But on the flip side, Tonnam is under pressure too—from a family that doesn’t know (or maybe doesn’t want to know) the real her.

That scene in the car? Emotional gold. Tonnam’s “I talked to my mom about moving out” hit like a hopeful wave, but the reasoning? Oof. Crushed. We appreciate the authentic representation of how tough it can be to come out to family, even in long-term relationships. Our queer hearts are feeling very seen.

Wan: Hot and Cold, But Still Smelling Shampoos?

Now, let’s talk about Wan, the walking contradiction.

We’re not sure if we missed something or if we’re just watching in circles, but… girl, what’s going on? One second she’s inhaling Maewnam’s shampoo like it’s bottled euphoria, and the next she’s acting afraid to show any emotion after catching her crush mid-fall off a ladder. Is she into her or not?

We’re confused, intrigued, and 97% sure this is exactly what the writers want.

The Kiss: YES, But Also… HUH?

Okay, we love that we’re getting kisses this early in the season. Thank you, Whale Store, for not dragging us through an 8-episode will-they-won’t-they. But we have just one teeny-tiny question:

WHY didn’t Maewnam kiss her back?!

Yes, yes—we get it. Shock. Surprise. Sudden sapphic smooch. But Maewnam has been nothing but upfront about her interest. So when the moment finally came, we were expecting sparks, fireworks, maybe even a shy cat scurrying under the bed from all the heat. Instead, we got… stunned silence?

Still, we’re intrigued. The pace is fast, the chemistry is crackling, and we’re absolutely living for this emotionally complex chaos.

Final Thoughts: Whale Store Deserves the Hype

This GL drama is quickly becoming one of our favorite surprises of the year. It’s fun, emotionally rich, and layered with just enough drama to keep us coming back week after week. We’re loving the representation, the side characters, the community vibe of all the small business owners, and of course—the delicious tension between our leading ladies.

If you're looking for a queer love story that gives you all the feels and actually respects your time? Whale Store is it.
