Girl Rules EP8 Review: Chaos, Chemistry & Just Enough Mess

Episode 8 raises the stakes with stronger emotional tension, undeniable chemistry, and a few standout moments — even if not every storyline fully lands.
Opening Reaction + Quick Take
Girl Rules isn’t the loudest woman in the room — she’s the one you clock from across it and can’t stop watching. There’s a quiet confidence to her, something layered, something intentional. And this episode leans into that energy. It continues delivering a raw, honest look at lesbian relationships — messy, emotional, and deeply human. Not perfect, but undeniably real.
The Moment
If we had to pick the moment, it’s Bambi putting Airy in her place — and doing it with full chest.
Bambi is that woman. Bold, unfiltered, and not afraid to make a scene when something (or someone) threatens what she considers hers. So when she catches Airy once again inserting herself into Prim’s space she doesn’t hesitate. She steps in and makes it known.
And honestly? We were seated.
There’s something electric about this dynamic. Airy isn’t backing down either — she’s poking, prodding, and stirring the pot just enough to keep things simmering. And Prim? Still completely unaware, which somehow makes it even better (and more frustrating).
The back-and-forth between Bambi and Airy in the kitchen had bite, attitude, and tension — the kind of scene that feels alive. But let’s talk about that cup drop in the sink.Girl.
That was a power move.
No yelling, no dragging it out — just clink, exit stage left. Conversation over.
Scene stolen.
We loved every second of it.

What Worked
a. Sasha Standing Up
Let’s start here — because this mattered. Seeing Sasha not only receive support but actually use her voice was a standout moment. The press conference, the vulnerability, the willingness to confront her situation — it was powerful. And the fact that the storyline actually introduced consequences for illegal behavior? About time. It was handled thoughtfully, given space to breathe, and grounded in something real.
That said… we wanted just a bit more from her speech. Not necessarily details, but impact. She had a platform, and it felt like it stopped just short of delivering that punch for women who needed to hear it.
b. Sasha + Gorya (Yeah… We’re In Now)
Listen — if you’re not at least a little invested in these two by now, what are we doing?
The chemistry? Insane.
There’s a natural tension between them that doesn’t feel forced — it just exists. From Gorya taking care of Sasha while she’s drunk, to the subtle moments at the shoot, to the emotional shift at the bar owner’s house — it all builds. And that hug? Soft. Real. Earned.
But the real standout is Sasha showing restraint. This is someone who always gets what she wants — and for her to pause, to pull back, to respect the moment? That says everything. It added depth to her character in a way we didn’t expect — and it worked.
c. Kris Pursuing Gorya
We’re not even going to pretend — this was fun.
When Sasha casually tells Kris that she and Gorya are just friends, Kris does what any bold sapphic with eyes would do — she asks if she can pursue her.
And Sasha? Side-steps it. Plays it off. Acts unbothered.(Spoiler: she is very much bothered.)
So Kris takes that green light and runs with it.
Cue the bar scene — Kris sitting on the bar, fully in her element, then pulling Gorya up with her because of their connection from the music video. It’s fun, it’s flirty, it’s effortless… and it hits exactly where it needs to.
Because Sasha is watching. And she is not okay.
We loved this for multiple reasons. First, the mix-up in pairings — give us more of that. It keeps the dynamics fresh and unpredictable. Second, watching Sasha get a taste of her own medicine? Delicious. This is someone who’s used to being in control, and suddenly she’s not. The shift is subtle, but loud at the same time.
And from a writing standpoint? This was smart. It layered tension, character development, and just enough chaos without overdoing it.
What Missed
a. The Bathtub Scene
The dialogue was solid, the intention was there — but something felt off. The physical spacing between the characters was distracting. It lacked intimacy in a moment that clearly called for it. And the audio issues didn’t help. When small technical details slip, they pull you out of scenes that should be hitting emotionally.
b. Min + Praew’s Fight
We were… confused.
Not by why they were fighting — but by how we got there. It felt like we missed a step. Coming into the episode with that level of tension without a clear lead-in made it harder to connect with the conflict.
c. Sasha + Baipor
We’ll be honest — we’re still not entirely sure what their history is. The scene itself? Fine. The dynamic? Interesting. But without clarity on their backstory, it’s hard to fully invest. If someone wants to explain, we’re listening.
d. Making Up
Look, we are always here for a good make-up moment — but come on, Min and Praew. What was that?
You’ve been fighting. We’re not asking for over-the-top passion, but we are asking for something. A little TLC. A little emotional payoff.
To go from tension, to cheeky banter, to initiating an intimate moment… only to land on the bed with light peck kisses and hugs — all while still feeling physically spaced apart? It just didn’t hit.
The moment had the setup to land, but the delivery felt off — like it pulled back right when it should’ve leaned in.
Bold Take
This episode proves Girl Rules knows how to build tension — it just doesn’t always fully connect the dots.
Final Verdict
Girl Rules continues to deliver what it does best: messy relationships, emotional tension, and characters you can’t quite look away from. It’s not flawless, but it’s real — and right now, that’s exactly why we’re still watching.
